SoonerCare will not unbundle OB payment

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) did not implement its planned “unbundling” of professional payment for SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) obstetrical services. This change was to go into effect Sept. 1, but will not be implemented at this time. OHCA will continue to pay professionals a global amount for the delivery, including antepartum and postpartum care, when their care is rendered for greater than one trimester.  

OHCA has posted a proposed emergency rule to reverse the unbundling change and is accepting comments on the proposal through Oct. 10 on their Policy Change Blog.  (Rick Snyder)
