OHA HIIN scholarship recipients attend AHA Leadership Summit

Posted on: 8/1/18

The OHA Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) awarded eight scholarships to OHA HIIN leaders to attend the 26th Annual AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego, July 26-28. The scholarships were made possible by funding from the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN), part of the American Hospital Association’s Health Resource & Educational Trust (HRET). The HIIN funding helps hospitals continue progress toward the national Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ goals of reducing inpatient harm by 20 percent and readmission rates by 12 percent by 2019.

The theme of the AHA Leadership Summit, Advancing Affordable Care and Promoting Value, recognized the central role of our nation’s hospitals and health systems in leading to a more accountable and high performing delivery system, one marked by achievements in patient engagement and care coordination, strategic use of technology and data, advances in workforce development, and innovations that expand access and improve health outcomes. These topics directly related to the HIIN goals.

Keynote speakers for the AHA Leadership Summit included Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH, 20th U.S. surgeon general, who presented “Addressing the Opioid Epidemic,” and Admiral William H. McRaven, USN (Ret.), commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command (2011-2014), who described leading the capture of Osama bin Laden as part of his presentation titled “Leadership and Risk Management: Taking Command.”

OHA would like to recognize the following scholarship recipients for their commitment to improving patient safety in participation in OHA HIIN and attending this conference:

Holly Holland, AllianceHealth Woodward
Donna Jones, AllianceHealth Ponca City

Rona Stacy, Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau
