OBN issues reminder on reporting nonfatal overdoses

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) sends this reminder to emergency room staff to report all nonfatal overdoses to the OBN per the following statute:

Title 63 O.S. 2-105 (B) The Bureau shall be required to compile a yearly report of all fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses for the State of Oklahoma. All registrants, as defined in the Anti-Drug Diversion Act, shall report any person appearing at a medical facility with a drug overdose to the central repository as provided in the Anti-Drug Diversion Act. The determination of a drug overdose shall be made solely at the discretion of the treating medical professional based on the education, experience and professional opinion of the medical professional. This information shall be considered part of the central repository pursuant to the Anti-Drug Diversion Act and shall be confidential and not open to the public pursuant to the provisions of Section 2-309D of this title.

You may access this report by going to www.ok.gov/obndd, Look to the right column and click on Nonfatal Overdose Report, fill out the report and submit it electronically to OBN.

If you make an error in any of the fields that you’ve submitted do not resubmit the report, simply call Lisa Baker at (405) 530-3118 and she will help correct the error. The collection accuracy of this information is vital to continue to properly track and document this problem in Oklahoma.
