OHA Preferred Partner to offer information on surgical care management
Posted on: 5/9/18
Medtel and OHA are offering an informational webinar May 22 at 10 a.m. to provide information about the services provided by Medtel. OHA identified Medtel as a partner that will deliver best-in-class software to assist with surgical care, increase surgical profitability and increase quality outcomes for members.
The Medtel.com platform transforms surgical care using mobile, cloud-based technology to connect the surgical offices to the hospital and provide the earliest opportunity to identify the risk of a procedure through automated, transparent communication. The program utilizes a modular approach to deliver trends and analysis, helping hospitals reduce risks and improve cost of care in the surgical care process.
Medtel has effectively helped platform users improve the following metrics:
- Day-of surgery cancelations (one client went from 10 percent down to 1 percent)
- ALOS and discharge to home (one client dropped ALOS by 1.3 days and discharge to home decreased 63 percent)
- Readmission rates (one client decreased readmits from 17 percent to 8 percent)
- Overall cost of care (one client decreased their per 90-day episode cost by $10,000 per patient per episode for Ortho patients)
The Medtel platform provides an environment that helps the financial and surgical teams identify both risks prior to the incision and continues to monitor information about the patient throughout the entire episode of care. In 2013, Medtel’s solution emerged as the first surgical care management platform designed to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and provide better outcomes. The following are three keys to Medtel’s success with client implementations:
- Automating manual-based processes, improving workflows and capturing structured data easily and reliably connecting a large variety of patient information.
- Creating the earliest opportunity to identify the clinical and financial risks of a procedure before the incision.
- Sustaining surgeon and staff compliance to clinical guidelines, care pathways, and protocols that lead to an institution’s financial health.
Armed with the Medtel solution, providers now have the necessary agnostic, cloud-based tools to easily connect with their surgical offices and sustain compliance to best practices, which results in better outcomes for their patients and financial health for their institution.
