Description:

Safe patient handling programs reduce the risk of injury for health care workers and patients while improving the quality of patient care. Use of lifting equipment is essential to successful safe patient handling and has been shown to reduce exposure to manual lifting injuries by up to 95 percent. These injuries are due in large part to overexertion related to repeated manual patient handling activities, often involving heavy manual lifting associated with transferring, repositioning patients and working in extremely awkward postures. This webinar provides an overview of safe patient handling programs and OSHA resources available to assist in the review of existing programs.
