This webinar reviews the top problematic CMS pharmacy standards. CMS now issues a deficiency report when the pharmacy is in noncompliance. The CMS interpretive guidelines address medication management and pharmacy-related standards. These standards are reviewed when CMS conducts a compliance or validation survey. Medication errors make up the largest number of medical errors in health care today and are the most common reason for unnecessary readmissions to the hospital. Nursing personnel should understand medication and pharmacy standards. These include medication errors, adverse events, drug incompatibilities, self-administered medication and required medication policies.
