Medicare introduces BPCI Advanced payments
Posted on: 1/31/18
Earlier this month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the launch of a new voluntary bundled payment model for Medicare called
Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced (BPCI Advanced), which is available to organizations in the Dallas Region jurisdiction.
The application period for this model is now open and will run from Jan. 11 - March 12.
BPCI Advanced builds upon lessons learned from current and previous CMS models, demonstrations, and programs. Participation in BPCI Advanced is voluntary and the model will start on Oct. 1, 2018 and run through Dec. 31, 2023. The goal of the model is to better support health care providers who invest in practice innovation, care redesign, and enhanced care coordination. In addition, BPCI Advanced will qualify as an Advanced Alternative Payment Model (Advanced APM), as well as a Merit-Based Incentive Payment System APM (MIPS APM) for select participants beginning in 2019, under the Quality Payment Program.
