The OHA HIIN (Hospital Improvement Innovation Network) Annual Convening was held on June 13 with keynote presenters
Patricia Quigley, PhD, MPH, ARNP, CRRN, FAAN, FAANP and
Martha Hayward, IHI.
Dr. Quigley is nationally known for her program of research in patient safety, particularly in fall prevention. Her clinical practice innovations are designed to promote elders’ independence and safety.
Hayward joined the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in March 2011 as the lead for public and patient engagement and is a national speaker on patient and family engagement and end-of-life care. The focus of her work at IHI is bringing patients and families into the design of all work to accelerate improvement of health care delivery.
Thirty-seven OHA HIIN hospital leaders representing 24 of the 45 OHA HIIN hospitals participated in the convening. The day was filled with networking opportunities, sharing of improvement successes and challenges, and initiating an action plan for fall prevention and engagement of patients and families in care.
Both Dr. Quigley and Hayward will present a follow-up webinar/conference call in the next two weeks to identify success and challenges to implementation of the newly identified goals and respond to questions.
