AHA/HRET offered 10 scholarships to more than 4,000 hospitals participating in the AHA/HRET HIIN (Hospital Improvement Innovation Network), based on submission of a storyboard poster describing improving patient safety. Two OHA HIIN leaders were selected and awarded scholarships to attend the AHA Rural Health Care Leadership Conference.
Kari Raasch, MS, RN, director of quality, PI, risk, patient safety, Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha; and
Jennifer Dye, risk manager, quality coordinator, facility compliance officer, AllianceHealth Ponca City, each submitted a storyboard poster describing a fall prevention initiative implemented in their hospitals, resulting from tools and resources available through participation in the OHA HIIN. Raasch and Dye met with conference attendees and discussed their improvement journey, including strategies and successes.
