Campaign launched for Medicaid expansion ballot initiative
Posted on: 6/14/19
Earlier this week, a growing coalition of which OHA is a part, including doctors, nurses, patients, business executives, non-profit organizations, and health care advocates, announced the launch of
Oklahomans Decide Healthcare. This move kicks off the campaign to give voters a direct say on Medicaid expansion, an issue that has languished in the state Legislature for nearly a decade.
As you know, OHA has been working for many years to bring federal funds back to our state to cover the uninsured under Medicaid expansion. While the campaign launches today, the next steps of the initiative will not begin until a court challenge is resolved. At that time, you will receive tools and guidance from us on gathering the needed signatures and advancing the initiative in your community. Until then, there are a few things you can do:
- Sign up as a supporter via text by texting the word “medicaid” to 474747.
- Go to OklahomansDecide.org and encourage others to do the same. Become a campaign supporter and sign up to receive campaign updates.
- Follow and share the campaign social media pages. Please retweet and share posts from the campaign. Encourage your contacts to follow as well:

This is an exciting time and health care coverage could finally be on its way to 200,000 Oklahomans. Please watch for more details and ways you can get involved in the coming weeks.
