Supreme Court rejects challenge to ballot initiative
Posted on: 6/21/19
Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Supreme Court rejected an attempt by Medicaid expansion opponents to block voters from having a say on health care in the next election. The ruling upholding the constitutionality of the ballot initiative came just hours after oral arguments concluded on Tuesday. This is exciting news and means the Medicaid expansion ballot initiative will go forward.
The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs and two individuals were the challengers of the initiative petition. OHA was in attendance at the court proceedings and Crowe Dunlevy’s team, led by
Melanie Rughani, did an excellent job in the defense of the ballot initiative. To view the Supreme Court decision and the amicus brief filed on behalf of OHA and other organizations,
