The 2019 OHA HIIN (Hospital Improvement Innovation Network) Annual Convening was held March 19-20 at OHA. The evaluations from 33 participants representing 21 OHA HIIN hospitals said it all as all evaluations reflected the highest score for speakers, topics, and questions.
Guest speakers,
Pat Teske, RN, MHA, implementation officer, Cynosure Health Solutions;
Kim Werkmeister, RN, BA, CPHQ, CPPS, improvement advisor, Cynosure Health; and
Tara Bristol Rouse, MA, patient and family engagement project consultant, AHA Center for Health Innovation, addressed the impact of immobility on multiple topic areas including: falls, delirium, pressure ulcers, readmissions, VAE and VTE, cross-cutting interventions that impact multiple topic areas, and the impact of engaging patients and family in reducing patient harm.
Following two days filled with information, resources, tools, sharing, networking, future plans towards patient safety, interactive work and thought-provoking discussion, HIIN leaders returned home with plans to implement interventions to increase mobility, begin/continue discussions on PFE, and engage staff in this critical work.
OHA HIIN staff continue to work with 42 Oklahoma hospitals to improve patient safety and decrease hospital acquired harm, providing evidence-based resources, networking and educational opportunities, site visits, data analysis and support.
