Fifty participants from 24 Oklahoma hospitals participated in the annual OHA AHRQ/HIIN Convening Meeting on Feb. 13 in the OHA Seminar Center. The guest speaker was Pat Posa, MSA, BSN, RN, CCRN-K, FAAN, quality and patient safety program manager, University of Michigan Hospital & Frankel Cardiovascular Center. Posa is nationally-recognized speaker on culture of safety and patient safety with 40 years of experience.

The theme of this interactive meeting of OHA HIIN team leaders and unit leaders who participated in the AHRQ Patient Safety ICU CAUTI/CLABSI Initiative was On the CUSP of an Excellent Culture.

Meeting objectives included a focus on improving patient safety through application of CUSP (Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program) principles and also appropriate evidence-based utilization of indwelling catheters and central lines. Hospital quality and improvement leaders had opportunities to share successes and challenges, celebrate improvement, and network with colleagues.

Participants finished the day by identifying a plan to initiate improvement(s) on return to their hospitals, based upon the education learned during the meeting. (Patrice Greenawalt)
