OHA is proud to announce that its Hospitals Helping Patients Quit (HHPQ) initiative, a grant program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), was featured in the recently published CDC Tobacco Cessation User Guide. This evidence-based guide was designed to help states develop sustainable comprehensive tobacco control programs and features two case studies of successful tobacco control programs. OHA’s HHPQ program was one of the two case studies highlighted by the CDC. This is a huge honor and the HHPQ team is excited to be recognized by the CDC as a national leader in health care-based tobacco treatment systems change.

OHA’s HHPQ program has been helping Oklahoma hospitals and clinics provide patients with tobacco treatment support for over 10 years. During that tenure, more than 40,000 patients have been referred to the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline to receive follow up support in their quit attempt, which has resulted in countless lives and health care dollars saved.
