HHS COVID-19 data reporting webinar for hospital EMResource users recording available

OHA partnered with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) to host two webinars titled “HHS Hospital Reporting for COVID-19 Update for Hospital EMResource Users” on Sept. 3 and Sept. 9. Links to the webinar and other resources are available at the end of this article.

The purpose of the webinar was to review the HHS COVID-19 reporting guidelines, educate participants on the process for entering the data and responding to questions. This webinar was for hospitals that choose to submit the daily COVID-19 data to EMResource (a data tool managed by OSDH) for OSDH to then submit to HHS on behalf of the hospital.

Grace Pelley, OSDH trauma & systems development manager, also gave a live demonstration of EMResource and explained the data fields.

Key takeaways from the presentation included:
All hospitals must submit state-required data daily to EMResource per Gov. Stitt’s Executive Order.
• All Oklahoma hospitals must submit HHS/CMS required COVID-19 data in one of two ways:
     1. To EMResource, for OSDH to submit to HHS on behalf of the hospitals, or
     2.  Directly enter the required data into the HHS TeleTracking portal.
• For hospitals submitting the HHS-required data via EMResource:
     1. Enter required data between 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. daily;
     2. Complete all required fields; a field that contains “- -” is considered incomplete;
     3. Hospitals must complete a minimum of 90% of all fields for OSDH to continue to be certified by HHS to submit data to HHS on behalf of hospitals;
     4. Hospitals entering HHS data into EMResource should run a Resource Validation Report (process was covered during the Sept. 9 webinar) to ensure accurate and complete data was entered.
• Contact [email protected] if you have any questions regarding HHS or state-required data reporting into EMResource.
