Readiness experts share health care lessons from Texas winter storm

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response last week released “The Storm After the Storm: Healthcare in Texas Recovers from Severe Winter Weather.” In the report, emergency preparedness experts from HCA Healthcare and its Level III trauma center in Houston and facility services provider Medxcel share how they prepared for and responded to last month’s severe winter weather, which cut power and water to 4.3 million residents in sub-zero temperatures and structures built to repel rather than hold heat.
