Mercy Hospital Logan County earns WorkHealthy Hospitals Excellence Award

WorkHealthy Hospitals (WHH), a grant program of TSET and an initiative of OHA, has awarded Mercy Hospital Logan County, Guthrie, with the WHH Excellence Recognition. This award recognizes the hospital for having implemented the most effective level of culture that supports employee wellbeing.

Mercy Hospital Logan County completed a WHH assessment, which provided a comprehensive view of the policies, benefits, and environment offered to hospital employees. Based on the assessment findings and tailored recommendations, the hospital’s wellness committee and leadership implemented improvements and system change strategies to reach WHH Excellence one year later. Mercy Hospital Logan County was able to interface WHH’s sustainable infrastructure recommendations with their already established system-wide wellness program. This approach enhanced both efforts to best support their employees.

“Like the Sisters before us, we continue to care for one another and value each of our co-workers, seeing their health and wellness as one of Mercy’s top priorities,” said Bobby Stitt, Mercy Logan County administrator. In an effort to balance the value and needs of our co-workers with the importance of their health to our business, we strive to deliver a complete wellness program with every aspect designed to make well-being a lasting habit.”

“Mercy Hospital Logan County demonstrates that a healthy, positive work environment can be achieved by any organization that recognizes their employees are valued and their most important asset to achieve their mission,” states Sydney Tomlinson, OHA health improvement specialist. “They have successfully set a high standard of wellbeing by prioritizing the improvement of the culture of wellness for their employees. Their commitment to employee wellbeing then impacts the quality of patient care. OHA is honored to partner with Mercy Hospital Logan County.”

Since 2013, the WHH initiative, in collaboration with the South Carolina Hospital Association and with funding from the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), has touched more than 45 hospitals statewide and impacted approximately 27,000 employees in Oklahoma.
