OSDH provides information related to COVID-19 reporting requirements

Posted on: 5/19/23

OHA has received numerous questions regarding COVID-19 data and lab reporting requirements following the end of the PHE on May 11.

The following information was released by Elyce Holloway, state hospital preparedness program (HPP) coordinator, Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), on May 18.

Oklahoma Administrative Codes (OAC) 310:517 and 310:515 remain active and require ALL facilities conducting on-site COVID-19 testing to report results daily via the designated COVID lab reporting site. Health care providers are still required to report hospitalizations and deaths via the OSDH Case Investigation portal. Additionally, CMS requires continued COVID-19 associated hospitalizations reporting via NHSN. Information will be shared if/when updates occur.

Please share and reference the following documents for further guidance/explanation:

1.    OAC 310:515

3.    CMS Rule (Note Section I.A.2.n)

I.A.2.n.-  Excerpt
N. Condition of Participation (CoP) Requirements for Hospitals and CAHs to Continue Reporting Data for COVID-19 and Influenza After the PHE ends as Determined by the Secretary
In this final rule, we are revising the hospital and CAH infection prevention and control CoP requirements to continue COVID-19-related reporting requirements commencing either upon the conclusion of the current COVID-19 PHE declaration or the effective date of this proposed rule, whichever is later, and lasting until April 30, 2024 (unless the Secretary determines an earlier end date). We have withdrawn our proposal to establish additional data reporting requirements to address future PHEs related to epidemics and infectious diseases.
