Medicare
Medicare is a federal program that pays for certain health care expenses
for individuals who are age 65 or older and individuals with end stage
kidney disease or total disability. It is entirely a federal program and
is overseen by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Hospitals that serve as Medicare providers must adhere to various rules
and regulations for patient care and reimbursement. The Oklahoma
Hospital Association monitors prospective and recently implemented
changes to Medicare, provides information about how specific aspects of
the plan affect care providers, and advocates for fair and
equitable implementation of the program.
