Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

Providing safe, high-quality care is among Oklahoma hospitals' highest priorities. Meanwhile, increasing demands are placed on hospitals to achieve higher quality and patient safety outcomes. Because of the increased accountability placed on hospitals to ensure positive clinical outcomes, it is critical for hospitals to heighten and more strategically align operational, quality and patient safety goals throughout the hospital and health care system. OHA is committed to assisting members in meeting these challenges and staying better informed of expectations from payers and regulators at the national and state level.

Hospitals spend significant resources on identifying, implementing and monitoring the safety of care provided to patients. Patient Safety in a hospital is defined as keeping the patient safe from harmful events such as errors and complications. These events include infections, injuries and medication errors. Hospitals have extensive programs in place to prevent and monitor these potential complications.
