OHA Preferred Partner to offer information on surgical care management

Medtel and OHA are offering an informational webinar May 22 at 10 a.m. to provide information about the services provided by Medtel. OHA identified Medtel as a partner that will deliver best-in-class software to assist with surgical care, increase surgical profitability and increase quality outcomes for members.

The Medtel.com platform transforms surgical care using mobile, cloud-based technology to connect the surgical offices to the hospital and provide the earliest opportunity to identify the risk of a procedure through automated, transparent communication. The program utilizes a modular approach to deliver trends and analysis, helping hospitals reduce risks and improve cost of care in the surgical care process.

Medtel has effectively helped platform users improve the following metrics:
  • Day-of surgery cancelations (one client went from 10 percent down to 1 percent)
  • ALOS and discharge to home (one client dropped ALOS by 1.3 days and discharge to home decreased 63 percent)
  • Readmission rates (one client decreased readmits from 17 percent to 8 percent)
  • Overall cost of care (one client decreased their per 90-day episode cost by $10,000 per patient per episode for Ortho patients)
