Coal County General Hospital receives recognition for employee wellbeing initiative

Posted on: 10/9/20

OHA recently recognized Coal County General Hospital, Coalgate, for prioritizing a culture that best supports employee wellbeing. The hospital utilizes the WorkHealthy Hospitals (WHH) resource to assess and improve their wellbeing initiative. WHH, a grant program of TSET and an initiative of the Oklahoma Hospital Association (OHA), helps Oklahoma hospitals take a comprehensive and sustainable approach to creating an environment where their employees can holistically thrive.

As the first step in the initiative, Coal County General Hospital completed a WHH assessment for their hospital. This assessment provides a comprehensive view of the policies, benefits, and environment offered to hospital employees. Based on the assessment findings, they received tailored recommendations and will work to implement evidence-based improvements and system change strategies.

“Coal County General Hospital recognizes that a healthy, positive work environment can be achieved by any organization that values their employees and understands they are their most important asset to achieving their mission,” states Meagan Carter, OHA rural health improvement specialist. “Their commitment to employee wellbeing then impacts the quality of patient care and can have a ripple effect throughout the community. OHA is honored to partner with Coal County.”

The WHH initiative currently serves 34 Oklahoma hospitals spanning 22 counties and impacting over 27,000 employees. For information on WHH, contact OHA’s WorkHealthy team at [email protected].
