Governor renews state of emergency

Posted on: 9/4/20

On Aug. 28, Gov. Kevin Stitt renewed the state of emergency related to COVID-19. There is nothing new to report regarding any new provisions within the Fourth Amended Executive Order 2020-20 for our industry. The renewal does trigger the provisions of SB 210, which if you may recall, was the result of the Oklahoma Supreme Court striking the notary requirement from absentee ballots this year. SB 210 reinstated the notary requirement, and put into place additional options for submitting your absentee ballot when an emergency declaration is in effect within 45 days of a scheduled election. So, as with our June 30 primary election, you may submit a photocopy of your driver’s license in place of a notary for the upcoming general election. (Scott Tohlen)
