Two Mercy hospitals receive recognition for employee wellbeing initiative

OHA recently recognized Mercy Hospital Logan County, Guthrie, and Mercy Hospital Kingfisher for prioritizing a culture that best supports employee wellbeing. Both hospitals utilize the WorkHealthy Hospitals (WHH) resource to assess and improve their wellbeing initiative.

WHH, a grant program of TSET and an initiative of the OHA, helps Oklahoma hospitals take a comprehensive and sustainable approach to creating an environment where their employees can holistically thrive.

As the first step in the initiative, both hospitals completed a WHH assessment for their respective hospitals. This assessment provides a comprehensive view of the policies, benefits, and environment offered to hospital employees. Based on the assessment findings, they received tailored recommendations and will work to implement evidence-based improvements and system change strategies.

“These hospitals recognize that a healthy, positive work environment can be achieved by any organization that values their employees and understands they are their most important asset to achieving their mission,” states Sydney Tomlinson, OHA health improvement initiatives specialist. “Their commitment to employee wellbeing then impacts the quality of patient care and can have a ripple effect throughout the community. OHA is honored to partner with Mercy Hospital Logan County and Mercy Hospital Kingfisher.”

The WHH initiative currently serves 34 Oklahoma hospitals spanning 22 counties and impacting more than 27,000 employees. For information on WHH, contact OHA’s WorkHealthy team at [email protected].
