Coalition to Protect Healthcare in Oklahoma needs your support and engagement

Posted on: 5/9/25

The Coalition to Protect Healthcare in Oklahoma, of which OHA is a founding member, was formed to protect healthcare access for Oklahomans for decades to come. Please ask your employees to go to protecthealthcareinok.org and complete the “Join the Effort” form to become a supporter and receive updates on the Coalition’s priorities and activities.

Previously, hospital CEOs received a brief survey from OHA asking for the name of one person from your organization who can serve as your hospital’s ambassador and grassroots coordinator for the Coalition. If you did not complete the survey, please send the name of your hospital’s Coalition grassroots coordinator to [email protected]

Over 1 million – or approximately 25% of our state’s population – have access to healthcare thanks to SoonerCare, Oklahoma’s Medicaid program. Based on recent polling, we know that the majority of our state’s population feels that the current program is meeting their vital healthcare needs. However, Congress is now considering cuts to Medicaid funding that could cost as much as $2.5 billion to Oklahoma annually. These proposed cuts threaten sustainable access to healthcare for communities across the state.

Without Medicaid, our neighbors, many of whom are mothers, pregnant women, babies, and seniors, will be unable to access the necessary healthcare they need.

Not only do patients rely on Medicaid programs to stay healthy and do their best work, but we as healthcare providers rely on Medicaid and state directed payment policies to continue strengthening our ability to care for every person who walks through our doors.
