OHA Excellence in Quality Award announced

The OHA Council on Quality and Patient Safety is excited to announce the first “Excellence in Quality Award.” The award, which will be given annually, recognizes exceptional efforts to improve quality and patient care in Oklahoma hospitals. The award represents the highest level of professional acknowledgement from the OHA Council on Quality and Patient Safety and the OHA board of trustees. The goal of the award is to:
- Recognize outcomes in quality performance practices, capabilities and results;
- Share best practices, challenges and successes among Oklahoma hospitals;
- Stimulate innovation, knowledge and learning in achieving quality and safety in health care among member hospitals.
All OHA member hospitals are eligible to apply for the OHA Excellence in Quality Award, describing a project-based clinical topic area for any period of time during the project period of Jan. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019.
The OHA Excellence in Quality Awards will be given to one hospital in each of the following categories (based on licensed beds):
- Critical Access
- 26-100 beds
- 101-300 beds
- >300 beds
A completed OHA Quality Award Application including your CEO’s signature and the OHA Quality Award Storyboard Poster Template must be received in the OHA office to the clinical initiatives manager on or before noon on Oct. 1, 2019. Late submissions will not be considered.
One award recipient will be selected for each category based upon bed size, as described above. Each submission will be scored according to elements on the scoring rubric. The submission with the highest score in each category will be selected for the award.
Recipients of the OHA Excellence in Quality Award will receive prior notification and be honored during the OHA Annual Convention (Nov. 13-14). Award recipients will receive:
- A poster to display at OHA Convention demonstrating and sharing quality efforts.
- An award plaque.
- Professional photo of hospital staff/leadership with OHA president.
- Public recognition via media release with support from OHA.
